Betsy Carr: firefly & drift necklaces

About this work:

firefly necklace:
The text on this little pendant came from a vintage dictionary and is preserved under a coating of glossy resin. A faceted, firefly-orange carnelian bead dangles nearby.

The findings and chain are sterling silver--both oxidized and bright, and the length is 18". The pendant is about 1/2" square.

current necklace:
Tiny dotted lines chart the course of ocean currents in this vintage map and resin pendant. It strikes me as a little funny that something as massive as the movement of oceans can be captured with little blue lines and arrows on a piece of paper.

The 3/4" pendant hangs from a delicate 18" sterling silver cable chain.
